Dining At Home On A Special Day

The recent Monday, 14th of July, was my darling's birthday. I've prepared a perfect for two dinner for the both of us. Well, not exactly "I've prepared", it's "We've prepared". You see, my darling love cooking too (when he's in the mood. ^^)! So on his birthday, he was on his mood to cook. It was him whom prepared the grilled steak. I did the lychee sorbet, potato salad and bruschetta. Cooking went on smoothly, and our dishes came out yummy~licious! We have a great time savoring each morsel of the feast. :)



Grilled Steak with Garlic Black Pepper Sauce

Ingredients:
4 sirloin steaks (5mm thick, trimmed) - depending on your likeness, the sirloin steak may be 1cm thick.
Salt & freshly ground black pepper
4 cloves roasted garlic (Mashed)

Sauce:
1 small packet whipped cream (Recommended: ARLA Brand)
2 strips bacon (cut into small bits)
2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
2 Jalapenos (finely chopped)
1 tsp salt or to taste
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper or to taste
2 Tbsp olive oil

1. Prick steaks deeply to ensure the flavors get into the meat. Rub mashed roasted garlic onto steaks. Season with salt & pepper. Do it on both side of each steaks.

2. Grilled steaks on grill pan, depending on your likeness (eg; medium rare or medium well).

3. Meanwhile, make the sauce. On a saucepan, saute garlic and jalapeno until fragrant. Toss in the bacon bits and cook till bacon turn brown.

4. Pour in whipped cream and water. Cook until sauce began to bubble.

5. Serve steaks with sauce.


Potato Salad

Ingredients:
5 medium sized potatoes
1/4 White Onion (chopped finely)*
1 Tbsp spring onions (finely chopped)

Dressing:
2 Tbsp mayonaise
2 tsp wine vinegar
Salt & freshly ground black pepper
2 Tbsp olive oil

1. Peel and cut potatoes into quarters. Cook for about 20 minutes or until tender in a lightly salted boiling water.

2. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk all ingredients together, slowly poring in the olive oil.

3. Drain potatoes, then immediately toss with dressing, white onions and spring onions.


Bruschetta

Ingredients:
6 ripe tomatoes (chopped coarsely)
1/4
White Onion (chopped finely)*
2 Tbsp lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)
2 Jalapenos (chopped coarsely)
1 Tbsp parsley (chopped finely)
Salt & Pepper to taste
Olive oil

1 roll baguette (cut diagonally into thick slices, about 1.5cm thick)**
Butter

1. In a bowl, mix all together. Drizzle with olive oil.

2. Buttered the bread on both side, toast.

3. Spoon tomato mixture on top of each slice and serve.


* you may use more onion, says 1/2 onion instead of 1/4.
** you may use any kind of bread.
