Mua Chee on Father's Day

Alas! I can blog from my home already [Inset Left: Cozy little work area in our room]. This is my first time blogging from my new home and it feels soo good!! For those who do not know, I've been waiting for approx 2 solid months to be connected from my new home. It was said that there's no telephone cable at my area yet cause it's still a new place. It was a difficult 2 months. Blessedly, I can still go online from my office but of coz there's limitation to it. Now that I could blog from home, be prepared for my late night snacks, it's gonna add tonnes of calories to you! Haha! :D

Let's start with a light snack first. This is a steam glutinous rice coated with peanuts & sugar mixture called Mua Chee. This is my first attempt in making this snack and it turned out not bad. I got compliments from my darling, sis and mom. (Marzie, this is the mua chee that i've been talking about! Enjoy, woman! :))

Ingredients:
400g glutinous flour
2 Tbsp sago flour (can be obtained in baking shop
250ml boiling water
310 cold water

5 shallots (sliced thinly)
5 Tbsp oil

300g peanuts (roasted,skinned and blended)
150g castor sugar

1. Deep-fry shallots until crispy. Drain and keep the oil for use later.

2. In a big mixing bowl, pour in glutinous rice, follow by boiling water. Combined well using a spatula.

3. Add sago flour, cold water and 1 Tbsp shallot oil. Gradually stirring to combine all ingredients into a thick batter.

4. Pour the batter into a lightly greased tray. Steam under high heat for 35-40 minutes. Leave aside to cool.

5. In a shallow plate, mix the blended peanuts and sugar together.

6. Cut a big piece of the steamed batter out (approx 1/4 of the tray), and coat with the peanuts mixture. Using a scissors, cut the mua chee into bite-sized. Repeat until all the steamed batter is coated.

Good to be eaten fresh. It's chewily soft in the inside and crunchy in the outside with the peanuts and sugar mixture ~ yummylicious! :)




Ok, so i heard today is Father's Day. I'm not gonna be stingy with my mua chee. I would like to share this mua chee with all my blogger friends and also my friends who's a dad to someone namely Adrian, Nick, Sam and Bro Bokjae.

Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to write a little tribute to my dad. It's a short one, because i can't bring myself deeper into the thoughts of him without crying. If he is still alive, he would be 62 years old now. He was a great man with a great sense of responsibilities. He knew that he had to take care of us and he worked hard to achieved most man cannot achieve. He has given us the best education he could afford. He has given us the best of him. He's the greatest man in my heart! I love him dearly! So, here's to my dad: Happy Father's Day! I love you, dad!

Happy Mother's Day!

Yup, Mother's Day is just around the corner. We've yet to decide how to celebrate Mother's Day with our moms. Sis suggested that we have an early Mother's Day celebration on Saturday with a feast at home. Of coz when it comes to feast at home, I have to cook. While Martin suggested that we have a dinner at some japanese restaurant on Sunday, which sounds more easier. Haha. Well, whatever it is gonna be, we'll make sure that our moms will be happy. :)

Father's Day at Agefuku

Yup, we went to Agefuku Restaurant on Father's Day. Since Uncle Mike (darling's dad) love japanese food, we decided to treat him a dinner at Agefuku. Uncle Mike, Aunt Janet, Marcus, Melvin, Steph, my mom as well as me and darling were those who went for the dinner. We reached there at 7.30pm, and the restaurant were already packed. Blessedly, I've make a reservation earlier on that day, so there's no waiting required.

All of us ordered the Set Dinner: 3 Teriyaki Chicken Zen, 1 Grilled Salmon Zen, 2 Fried Prawns Zen, 1 Grilled Unagi Zen and 1 Agefuku Specialty. This time, the teriyaki chicken was delicious, unlike my previous visit, it tasted more like mammith chicken. Check out my Agefuku Specialty [Inset Right]. The rice was compressed into a fan-like shaped. I like the springy stuff on the top left box, which has been mixed with wasabi. Was delicious. I can't figure out what was it. Steph said it tasted like chicken skin. Hmm.. i am not quite sure. But the texture was springy.

Happy Father's Day

First of all, I would like to wish all daddies a warmth & joyful "Happy Father's Day!" Hope your kids are making this a special day for you.

For me, we went to visit my dad this morning. Today's weather was cooling. The clouds seemed to be gathering together, forming a thick & huge shelter, making it hard for the sunshine to reach the earth. I bought my dad's favourite drink: Nescafe. My mom & brother bought him his favourite fruit: Persimmon.

Few months back, we brought his favourite plant: Pandan for him. We placed it near his place. Today, we saw that the pandan plant is still in good condition, thanks to the rainy days lately. There were five of us: my mom, brother & his gf, me & darling. We also brought along some glutinous rice dumplings homemade by my auntie (father's sister), which are also my dad's favourite. On appearance, we chatted happily with my dad. But inside, I am feeling emptiness & pain. Even though, it's already 9 months since he's gone, my heart is still aching. Memories of that day have been rewinding itself again & again in my subconscious mind.

Before we leave, we all said good-bye to him. I spontaneously said,"Bye, Pa. See you at home!"

Mom is the Greatest

My mom is one of the greatest mom in the world. Her endless love & cares for my family are highly appreciated. No matter how tired she was, she will try to make our home as comfortable as possible. I really admire her efforts. Thank you, mom!

On this special day, my sis & I, together with my bro-in-law & Chloe brought my mom to Italiannies Restaurant, One Utama Shopping Centre. We had our lunch there. After lunch, we did some shopping for Chloe's party goodies at Jaya Jusco.

In the evening, I went to darling's house. (oh yeah, forgot to tell you. My darling is oversea for business.) I've bought a stem of blood red rose for auntie. Had my dinner at darling's house and hang around his house till 10.30pm.

Auntie Janet is also one of the greatest mom in the world. Her continuous supports, loves & cares were recognized among my darling's family. She'll make sure that everyone's daily needs are met. Even though she had stressess at work, but she's always joyful at home.

Again, I would like to wish all the mommies out there, a very "Happy Mother's Day!".
