Our Bedroom

Without our realization, it has been a year since we reside here, in our new home. I can still remember clearly the headaches we had when making the decisions on the house renovations, indoor lightings, lamps, home furnishings and decor. Everything is about good bargains and good stuffs. Who wouldn't want the best for their home and yet at the same time getting a good bargain? So, we went to all places looking for good cheap stuffs. When i said all places, i really meant EVERYWHERE. Just imagine this, we got our mattress and bed frame from Shah Alam, our sidetable from LDP Furniture Mall, our writing desk from Sungai Besi and our pillows, bolsters, comforters, bedsheet, bookshelf from IKEA. And that is only our bedroom! It was really a tedious experience and if i were to go through this again, i would choose to shop online from the comfort of my own home.

Mua Chee on Father's Day

Alas! I can blog from my home already [Inset Left: Cozy little work area in our room]. This is my first time blogging from my new home and it feels soo good!! For those who do not know, I've been waiting for approx 2 solid months to be connected from my new home. It was said that there's no telephone cable at my area yet cause it's still a new place. It was a difficult 2 months. Blessedly, I can still go online from my office but of coz there's limitation to it. Now that I could blog from home, be prepared for my late night snacks, it's gonna add tonnes of calories to you! Haha! :D

Let's start with a light snack first. This is a steam glutinous rice coated with peanuts & sugar mixture called Mua Chee. This is my first attempt in making this snack and it turned out not bad. I got compliments from my darling, sis and mom. (Marzie, this is the mua chee that i've been talking about! Enjoy, woman! :))

Ingredients:
400g glutinous flour
2 Tbsp sago flour (can be obtained in baking shop
250ml boiling water
310 cold water

5 shallots (sliced thinly)
5 Tbsp oil

300g peanuts (roasted,skinned and blended)
150g castor sugar

1. Deep-fry shallots until crispy. Drain and keep the oil for use later.

2. In a big mixing bowl, pour in glutinous rice, follow by boiling water. Combined well using a spatula.

3. Add sago flour, cold water and 1 Tbsp shallot oil. Gradually stirring to combine all ingredients into a thick batter.

4. Pour the batter into a lightly greased tray. Steam under high heat for 35-40 minutes. Leave aside to cool.

5. In a shallow plate, mix the blended peanuts and sugar together.

6. Cut a big piece of the steamed batter out (approx 1/4 of the tray), and coat with the peanuts mixture. Using a scissors, cut the mua chee into bite-sized. Repeat until all the steamed batter is coated.

Good to be eaten fresh. It's chewily soft in the inside and crunchy in the outside with the peanuts and sugar mixture ~ yummylicious! :)




Ok, so i heard today is Father's Day. I'm not gonna be stingy with my mua chee. I would like to share this mua chee with all my blogger friends and also my friends who's a dad to someone namely Adrian, Nick, Sam and Bro Bokjae.

Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to write a little tribute to my dad. It's a short one, because i can't bring myself deeper into the thoughts of him without crying. If he is still alive, he would be 62 years old now. He was a great man with a great sense of responsibilities. He knew that he had to take care of us and he worked hard to achieved most man cannot achieve. He has given us the best education he could afford. He has given us the best of him. He's the greatest man in my heart! I love him dearly! So, here's to my dad: Happy Father's Day! I love you, dad!

Toaster Oven

It's been almost 3 months since i've shifted to my new home, yet i've never shown you guys how my new home looks like, except for that little sneak preview long ago. :)

So, today, I am going to show you guys a part of my home: The Kitchen!


Tadaa!!! So, what do you guys think? Actually we've chosen a black marble table top but they don't have it anymore. So, we have to use this common-looking table top. It still looks okay to us but of course, if we have the black table top, it'll look more elegant. :) There's a counter & two high chairs at the left side of my kitchen. It is for mini breakfast/ teas/ eatings whilst chit-chatting. :)

As you see, i have almost every appliances a kitchen needs: Oven, microwave, refrigerator, mixer, burner/ stove, water boiler, toaster and blender. Do you know what's missing? It's a small compact toaster oven. You may think why do i need a toaster oven when i already have an oven. It's because an oven consume alot of electricity, so it's not advisable to use an oven just to toast a small two-pieces of bread.

A toaster oven is alot smaller & convenient. Says, if you have two pastries that you'll like to reheat, what do you use? A microwave or toaster oven? I'll tell you the differences. If you use a microwave, your pastries will be hot but nothing else. But if you use a toaster oven, your pastries will be HOT and CRISPY! That's the difference!

And before i could decide which to buy, I read alot on toaster oven reviews to get myself in tune with the latest model and information. And it seems, this toaster oven should fit perfectly in my kitchen. :)

Chloe's Bedroom

My niece, sweetheart Chloe will be turning 2 years old this coming May 23rd. My sister and I were discussing whether is it time for her to have her own bedroom. Will she be ready to sleep alone? Right now, she's sleeping with my sister and brother-in-law. She can sleep throughout the whole night without making any noise, provided that she has a comfortable sleeping zone of her own.

She's really a princess whom can't withstand any hot weather. If you put her in a normal room-temperature room, she'll sweat like she has just done a 1km run. If you put her under hot sun, she'll complain non-stop, "Hot, hot". That's her, my sweetheart Chloe! So we make sure her comfortable sleeping zone must be an air-conditioned room.

My sister and I were having so much fun discussing about Chloe's soon-to-be bedroom. We surfed the net excitedly for Kids Bedroom furniture, Kids Desk and have a look at some Wooden Childrens Furniture. And look at our harvest! Aren't these furnitures adorable? :) We were thinking to buy her a vanity table as well, as a motivational gift for her newly learned "trick" - combing her own hair in front of mirror. We thought this vanity table will do perfectly. What do you guys think? :)

Missing From Blogging

Hello Everyone!

So, how have you guys been? I am sure you guys are all doing well. Boy, i've missed so much and I'll definitely visit you guys when i am free.

For those who do not know, I'll be moving to my new home by end of this month. That is why i've been missing from the blogosphere. Been busy taking care of renovation, painting, moving in furniture and etc... Yet at the same time juggling my time between work & new home. It is seriously a tedious job ever!

Here's a sneak preview of my new home. The part where the sliding door sits was a wall. What do you think? Isn't it better this way? It was my design. :) *smiling proudly* Haha!

And here's my christmas gift from emila. It was a pleasant surprise to receive something so lovely from my blogger friend. Thank you so much, emila! I love it! I am so sorry for the (extremely) late 'thank you'.

Video Security Systems

Few months ago, a thief broke into my neighbor's house. The thief was very brave considering that he has the guts to climb onto the roof and went into the house through the roof in DAY TIME. Surprisingly, nobody saw him climbing up the roof even though the sun was shining bright. My neighbor was working at that time, so nobody was at home which is a bonus to the thief. The thief must have done his survey, i guessed!

It was my right side next door neighbor. My mom whom was at home at that time, heard some noises on the roof. You see, our roofs are all connected. So, once you are inside the roof, you can easily go to the next house. It's all just wooden pillars separating each houses. My mom was scared because the noises was becoming more obvious. Her instinct told her to go to our left side next door neighbor for help.

At that time, the thief has already entered the house, taking his own sweet time to choose his "awards". My neighbor whom my mom went to seek help from was an auntie. She called the police. The thief was still unaware that his presence was noticed. He was still inside the house when the polices arrived 10 minutes after the phone call.

What happened after that was exactly like in a movie. According to my mom, the police asked him to surrender himself. If not, they will force inside the house. There were polices in front and at the back of the house. The thief tried to escape from the back, he ran for few meters before police managed to catch him. Good job to our police officers! Thank God that this ended in a good way. :)

When my mom told me this, i was shocked. I thanked God that nothing bad happen to my mom. Actually, this is not the first broken-in i've heard in my neighborhood. There were three cases which has happened to my friends. It's kind of scary when you imagine what if it was your house.

How to prevent our house from broken-in other than installing alarms? (oh, by the way, my neighbor installed alarm too but it's useless. Thief can still go inside your house through the roof.) One way i could think of is to install video security systems. This way, you can monitor and view any movement from outside and inside your house.

Don't be taken aback! I am not referring to those big budget security systems. I am talking about those DIY security cameras. Just place few cameras in strategic places at your home and voila, you can guard your home at a glance.
