No Caffeine For Me

I had a series of headaches during the recent weekend. It got to the peak on Sunday night whereby I vomited and cried because i couldn't stand the pain anymore. M has prohibited me from drinking coffee for the whole week because he thinks that the culprit to my headaches is Mr. Caffeine.

I was doing fine with caffeine-free on day 1. But on day 2, I started to feel discomfort without caffeine. I kept denying that I am addicted to coffee even tho' I was begging him desperately to let me drink coffee. After an hour of begging & pestering, M let me drink coffee. I had half a cup on that day. Despite the truth, I hate it when M says that I am addicted to coffee. I do not know why it is so hard to confess to M that I am a Coffee Addict. Maybe it is just my ego. merajuk

It has been 4 days since my last attack, I am doing fine now. My 'Caffeine-Free' for one week was a failure. I am on caffeine again since day 2. So far, M is fine with me drinking coffee again as long as I am not having headache. Let's hope that I won't get any headaches so soon, ya! doa

World AIDS Day 2008

I've just read about the World AIDS Day from Anny. She said, "Let us all end HIV prejudice. People living with HIV should be treated with respect and dignity and as equal citizens. Let's help shed some light today." I couldn't resist but to join in her calling for help.

More people than ever before are living with HIV in the UK and new infections continue. HIV is a serious long-term condition and people living with HIV often face discrimination. Whatever your HIV status, there is a role you can play in ending HIV prejudice and stopping the spread of HIV.

Stylish Prescription Glasses

Ever since I was diagnose to wear eyeglasses 13 years ago, I've changed my eyeglasses seven times. I've tried all kinds of styles but none seems to look good on me. That's why I've opted to wear a contact lens instead. However, wearing contact lens during dry weather or in long hours could cause tiredness. A pair of eyeglasses would be most appropriate at this time.

It is most important for an eyeglasses wearer to choose from as many styles as possible, to ensure the most perfect fit. The next important fact would be the budget. I've found out that both facts are not a problem at Zenni Optical.

Zenni Optical
"...wide range of frames, with single vision lens, sunsensor (potochromic) lens, tinted sunglasses lens, bifocal lens and progressive lens. The best part about Zenni Optical is that they are selling these eyeglasses from as low as $8..."

They have a wide range of frames, with single vision lens, sunsensor (potochromic) lens, tinted sunglasses lens, bifocal lens and progressive lens. The best part about Zenni Optical is that they are selling these eyeglasses from as low as $8. Do not worry if these eyeglasses would look cheap because they don't. As a matter of fact, they look exactly like those expensive eyeglasses i've seen in the optical store. The reason Zenni Optical is able to sell at low prices is because they sell only their own manufactured frames direct to their customer, with no middlemen and virtually no advertising budget.

My favourite eyeglasses from Zenni Optical.

iLasik, I Want It Too!

Lasik have been in the industries for more than 50 years but was only made known to the public a decade ago to improve their eye sight. I remembered when I first heard of LASIK technology during my high school, I was ecstatic. "Finally, I can see well without glasses!", I thought happily. You see, back then, I wore the most hideous glasses at school. I tried all ways not to wear these glasses, including pretending that I can see well. How childish was I?

So, when I finally got the chance to be glasses-free, do you think that I would easily let it go? With a heart for beauty, I searched eagerly for LASIK information. Little did I know that my desire to be glasses-free was soon shattered into million tiny pieces when I found out about the pricing. At that time, it would have cost me about my 5 years of pocket money. Realizing that it is impossible that I could get such a humongous sum of money, I turned to my parents. My parents were being skeptical about this new technology and said that it is not safe, that i might turn blind. Well, they manage to scared me at that time and I have to put my desire back into my "Desire Drawer". Later that year, I opted for a cheaper solution, which is to wear a contact lense.

iLasik Procedure
"...is less complicated - fast and painless. It is also proven to be safe. What I am more happy to hear about is that we can pay the fees on installment..."

I've just read on an article about the Department of Defense and NASA validated the fact that today’s LASIK exceeds all established standards of safety and effectiveness. After so many years, my desire is still kept in my "Desire Drawer" but there might just be a chance that I could fulfill my childhood desire now. For the second time, I searched eagerly on Lasik information and was thrilled to found out about iLasik. iLasik procedure is less complicated - fast and painless. It is also proven to be safe. What I am more happy to hear about is that we can pay the fees on installment, as low as $89 per month. :)

Alzheimer's Memory Walk

Do you know that individuals who are over 65 years old are commonly afflicted with Alzheimer disease? Each individual experiences the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease in different ways. The common recognized symptom is memory loss. Often this symptom is mistaken as a form of stress. As the disease advances, other symptoms such as confusions, angers, mood-swings and language breakdown will surfaced.

Many preventive measures have been suggested for Alzheimer's disease, the often recommended are mental stimulation, exercise and balanced diet. But there is no certain guaranteed cure for Alzheimer's disease yet.

I would like to encourage all my US visitors to join Alzheimer's Memory Walk. It is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research and it calls on volunteers of all ages to become champions in the fight against Alzheimer's. We can really make a differences in lives of those who are affected with this disease. Together we can walk for a purpose!

Help Make June Survivor Months!

It's been a year since the last June Survivor Month in which 6 millions clicks were needed. This year, The Breast Cancer Site will need 8 millions clicks.

Rozella has tagged me to raise the awareness about Breat Cancer. Her story goes like this...

A very long time ago my grandaunt Sylvia on my mother's side passed away because of breast cancer. Recently, our family had another scare, but this time it was on my father's side.

The doctors found six lumps the size of raisins in the right breast of his youngest sister. One of the lump was cancerous.

The good news for her was that they found it early. She had regular mammograms and that is how they detected it. The bad news is that a lot of women out there who do not have health insurance and cannot afford to get tested. That is why there is an increase in fatalities related to this disease - a lot of women find out way too late to be saved.

You can help the lives of many women by spreading the word about The Breast Cancer Site and by clicking the pink button as many times as you can. If The Breast Cancer Site receives 8 million clicks on the pink button in June, their premier sponsor -Bare Necessities- will donate $10,000 for more free mammograms.

You'll be helping to save someone's mother, daughter, sister and friend. So please join me in the spreading the word about this cause in the blogging community.

I know everyone has a lot of tags piling up, but I hope that the following people can post this one up ASAP. We only have a little over 3 weeks to reach 8 million clicks
.

Pink Penguin: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

I’ve been tagged by Marzie on her post, Pass the Pink Penguin in conjunction with the ‘Breast Cancer Awareness’ month of October. According to Marzie, below are several tips on how women can avoid breast cancer and remain healthy.

• Maintain a positive mental attitude
• Do aerobic exercise 3-4 times a week
• Practice breathwork and deepening body-awareness such as yoga
• Express your feelings to keep your energy flowing
• Ensure healthy eating habits and complement your food intake with the right supplements
• Avoid toxicity

How you can help raise awareness on breast cancer:-

1. Spread the word. Announce the event on your blog. You could write a blog post (like this), or a little note about it. Whatever you choose to do, just go ahead and tell your readers about it.

2. Go pink. Modify your theme if you know how to, or get yourself a pretty pink theme. If you run a website, turn your website pink. But if you don’t like pink, you could still participate by putting up a badge on your sidebar.

3. Design badges and banners. Design a couple of “Pink for October” badges or banners for other participants to use (for free) and to publicize the event. Some of the existing badges and banners can be downloaded from the Official Pink for October Site.

4. Design blog themes. There are a lot of bloggers who can’t even do simple designing, so if you are good at it, perhaps you could design and release a few pink themes? So, I am hoping that whoever happens to read my post, please do something to spread the awareness. It only takes a moment of our time.

In doing my part, here's a post i've written on National Breast Cancer Awareness Month - October! I would like to encourage all my readers to click on this site daily to help fund free mammograms and post a similar post like this to help raise awareness.

Thank you! :)

Additional Note - added on 24/Oct 2007: Emila has created this cute penguin in conjuntion with Breast Cancer Awareness month!

A Visit To The Chinese Physician

Chinese Herbs & Prescription Note

I consulted a chinese physician/ doctor yesterday at Huah Shan Herbs Store, USJ Taipan, was recommended by my friend. I was being skeptical because it's hard to believe that one can tell what's wrong with the other person by just taking the pulse. Even tho' this method was proven its accuracy but i am still on the fence.

Without saying a word, i gave him my left hand. He put his fingers on my wrist and take my pulse. He said, "You're lack of blood, lack of air/oxygen." My thoughts : Well, ok. That explained my palpitation.

And then he took the pulse on my right hand, "You've consumed too much of cold beverages, too much time in front of the monitor that it has strained your brain's energy." My thoughts: Well, ok. True as well. But maybe that's because he understood the behaviour of nowadays peoples.

And he took my left hand again and said, "You're having too much stress/ tension." He also said that my liver & kidney are not co-operating well that causes my stomach not able to absorb the nutrient from the food i eat. My thoughts: Well, ok. He's right. How does he knows i am under tremendous stress?

He gave me a prescription for chinese herbs. I need to take these herbs 8 times and according to the doctor, I should be feeling better and I will be able to absorb nutrient, hence gaining weight at the end of this 8th intake. The consultation and 1 packet of chinese herbs costs RM32. After taking this 1st packet, i still need to buy 7 more packets from the herbs store @ RM26/packet. That's mean, the total billing for this 'treatment' is RM214.

Because of what he said (all right about me), I am going to start taking these chinese herbs until the 8th intake. Anyway, it's only herbs and herbs are meant for restoring and bringing goodness to your health. No harm done to my body!

So, how about you? Have you been to chinese physician? How much do you believe in chinese physicians and medication?

Welcome Back, Ariel!

We just brought Ariel home from clinic. She's now sleeping soundly in her crib. Dr. Vijay said that the Blood Biochemistry test result is very bad. Show that her kidney & liver is in bad condition. Her reading were 8 times more than the normal reading. And when doctor tried to do the x-ray test, they almost lost her. Yes, Ariel almost die. She can't get overly excited or scared, if not she'll have difficulties breathing. She was scared. So, doctor have to stopped the test and continue 3 hours later.

Right now, what we can do is let her heart, liver and kidney stabilize first on its own before we do further treatment. If we continue the treatment now, we might lost her because her body cannot withstand any shock at all. We are giving her supplements and antibiotic and putting her on health diet.

Doctor said she is dying. But I felt that she's struggling with it. She's a strong dog. I know she can survive through this trauma and live for another 3-4 years. Even tho' doctor kept giving me all the bad news, I have faith in Ariel. I am not very saddened by all these now, somehow, I do not know where or how, I have this little hope at the corner of my heart.

This is an old picture of Ariel. She was 3 1/2 years old. Be strong, ya! *mmuaks*

May God bless Ariel! :)

Ariel Is Hopitalized

Today, during lunch time, Ariel was not feeling well. She vomited and collapsed. We checked her tongue, it was very pale and her nose was cold. And she urinated while lying down. I was so scared, I cried, because my previous dog urinated before she passed away.

Immediately we brought her to Healing Room, a veterinary clinic nearby. Dr Vijay attended to her. He examined her but couldn't conclude what is wrong with her. So, he suggested that we give her dripping first, to get her blood & oxygen flowing rightly. Then he took her blood for testing. According to Dr.Vijay, we need to do step-by-step tests to find out which part of her organ that is not functioning right. All these could easily ended up with RM700-800.

After dripping, she began to feel better, or at least we think she feels better because she was sulking for my stroking and her tongue have some colours back. We leave Ariel at the clinic for Dr.Vijay to do the heartworm test. It was 3pm then.

At about 4.30pm, Dr.Vijay called. He said,"Jean, I got bad news for you. Ariel was tested positive on heartworm". So, we rushed to the clinic and listen to what Dr.Vijay have to say or suggest. He said that Ariel is classified under class 4, meaning her condition is very ill and "Do not treat her. Treatment is too risky." He went on further to explain that it was confirmed that Ariel have got heartworm, but it might be also other part of her which is not functioning well.

The more test we did, the more information we have. So, the next test now is a more detailed blood test and x-ray. What we can do now is prolong her life span. If she could live upto 6 months, it's a miracle. Ariel is hospitalized for observation and assist in the tests.

We went to the "ward" to see her. She looks much better now, she wagged her tail when she saw us. But she's like a time bomb. If she got too excited or scared, her heart will have difficulties pumping the blood, thus creating a no-oxygen flowing in her. I have no idea what will happen next. I can't plan anything, but to just go with the flow.

Let's pray that she'll be a miracle dog!

p/s: i am sick now. have slight fewer and headache. :(

Healthy Eating, Healthy Living

Yipee! My mom blood pressure reading has dropped. It is now 160/80. We are very happy with the result but we still need to take care of her eating.

Since the news made known to us, approx 2-3 weeks ago, we stopped mom from eating oily or salty food. And started to feed her with fish, lots of fruits and lots of vegetables. Me and martin have to accompany her with this diet as well for dinner. At least, our sacrifices were not in vain. She's quite obedient in the sense that she didn't eat what we told her not to eat; she can control her self/apetite very well. Good job, mom!
